Welcome to Go10

Hi, I'm Mateo. I'm a software engineer, and Go10 is where I write about the engineering side of animation.

When people think about how an animated film or show gets made, they usually picture the artists: the storyboards, the characters, the animators bringing them to life. Behind all of that there is also a lot of software. Tools that move files from one department to the next, scripts that save artists hours of repetitive work, systems that decide which frames render first. That layer is usually called the pipeline, and it's the part I want to understand better.

Who this is for

  • Developers who are curious about how their skills apply to animation.
  • Animation students who want to peek at the technical side.
  • Anyone with a software background thinking about moving into the industry, like me.

What I'll write about

I'll write about what I learn as I go: pipeline concepts explained from a software engineer's point of view, small tools I build, and notes on the technologies studios talk about. I'll try to keep each post short, concrete and honest about what I know and what I'm still figuring out.

The little characters you see around the site are my own drawings. A different one shows up every time you visit.
